The Foodie – New Restaurants Opening in London and Edinburgh
By Joe Teng
With the sunshine and warm weather truly settling in and here to stay, it’s time to take advantage of this glorious British summer. Here are a few new restaurants in London and Edinburgh that are opening just in time to help celebrate the season, and which we hope will add to your enjoyment of a memorable summer.
World renowned chef Roy Rob Cameron and his co-partner, drinks specialist Tony Conigliaro, are on the verge of opening Gazelle, a stylish and flamboyant restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Mayfair. This impressive looking destination will be spread across two floors, both of which can be accessed by a private lift where guests can wine and dine on lunch and dinner.
Both Roy and Tony have worked behind some of the best restaurants and bars around the world, producing Michelin star menus and mouth-watering cocktails – little wonder, then, that there are high hopes that Gazelle is going to prove a big hit in London. Expect a fresh take on modern European cuisine with dishes such as tantalising halibut and elderflower, along with monkfish and burnt seeds. Sharing plates and snacks are also going to be available which will allow guests to dictate their preferable dining experience.
On the drinks side of things, Tony has carefully curated a menu fit for this grand opening, including his own signature concoctions, Gazelle variations on classic champagne and cocktails, as well as refreshing ice-cold brews and non-alcoholic drinks.

Noridc-French inspired restaurant Aster in Westminster has recently launched a vegan brunch in partnership with Ketel One and vegan skincare Lumene. With veganism hitting an all-time high in London, Aster’s chef patron, Helena Puolakka, has carefully devised a menu which celebrates both pure and seasonal ingredients including heritage tomatoes with baby basil and sherry dressing, and beautifully smoked courgettes with super seeds. There are also some cracking desserts such as a super sweet pineapple with chilli and vanilla, and mango with a silky-smooth coconut cream.
With brunch currently taking place every Sunday, Aster is also providing some notable cocktails as well. With the help of Ketel One – a family owned Vodka company – visitors can draw up their own DIY Bloody Mary drinks with a variety of garnishes and flavourings on offer, including paprika, rosemary, cherry tomatoes, and cooked asparagus.
Aster is perhaps the solution to a good old detox and putting a spring back into your step this summer. Check out their website at www.aster-restaurant.com
