Hants Heaven: The Top Luxury Hotels in Hampshire

Heckfield Place, Heckfield, Hook

Located in a tranquil country setting in the village after which it’s named, Heckfield Place emerged after a major renovation in 2018 as one of the best luxury manor hotels in England. Set on a nearly 1000-acre estate, Heckfield Place was built in the 1760s and has had a modern update which complements the house’s original charm splendidly.

Salvaged stone and distressed walnut floors are featured throughout and are the perfect accompaniment to the ornate furnishings and neutral hues of the décor. The owners’ private collection of British artwork adorns the walls and brings a personal touch to each of the suites. In addition to the six signature rooms and seven bedrooms in the main house, the estate also features 31 rooms in the ‘corridors’, and a private two-bedroom cottage in the grounds.

There’s a strong focus on cultivating a sustainable, natural environment, which is championed by a dedicated group of who preserve and maintain the surrounding woodlands, swimming lakes, farm, and greenhouse. Guests are encouraged to explore the grounds and make use of the in-house spa which features five treatment rooms and three studios for personal training, yoga, and Pilates.

The fruit and vegetables harvested in the Home Farm are served up in several dining settings: on the terrace of the Marle, which overlooks the grounds, and in the Hearth open-fire restaurant. Culinary Director Skye Gyngell oversees the menu, which changes according to seasonal ingredients. The estate also features private dining rooms, as well as an extensive wine cellar and the intimate Moon Bar.
